Feeding San Diego is a non-profit organization on a mission to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue. Established in 2007, Feeding San Diego rescues surplus food from local and national food donors before it goes to waste and gets it to people facing hunger in San Diego County. It is the only Feeding America partner food bank in the region.
Feeding San Diego is dedicated to building a team that reflects the diverse county we serve, including those with varying backgrounds and life experiences. Applicants who strengthen our team through personal knowledge of poverty and food insecurity, as well as members of marginalized groups, are encouraged to apply.
POSITION SUMMARY
Feeding San Diego is looking for a creative storyteller and video journalist to join our team to expand our visual storytelling capabilities, specifically through organic social content creation and management and video production. This role will support our Marketing & Communications team in honing and expanding storytelling around Feeding San Diego’s critical hunger relief and food rescue programs and the inspiring community of San Diegans who make our mission possible.
The role is focused on finding engaging and authentic ways to visually tell the stories from within our organization across owned and paid media channels and for internal and external use. The creator will be responsible for ideating, developing, and executing content across social platforms and creating short and long-form videos. This role will work directly within the Feeding San Diego network (this includes stakeholders such as neighbors who receive support from our programs, donors, volunteers, partners, and staff) to identify compelling stories and will use creative and technical skills to bring them to life using video, photo, graphics, or a well-timed meme or trending audio.
The ideal candidate has a background in using digital mediums to create a wide range of stories, whether for social media, news segments, or film, and is open-minded, collaborative, and thinks video-first when it comes to storytelling. This role will be directly involved in developing creative campaign concepts and strategic plans for social media outlets and fundraising campaigns to effectively launch campaigns and steward our audiences through the funnel, ensuring alignment with marketing objectives and target audience engagement.
